Curiouser and curiouser…

David Mellor, an outstanding British flatware designer of the last century passed away aged 78 back the the beginning of May this year (see article here) . But if you go to the David Mellor Design website, you’d be forgiven for thinking that this is all a myth.

For whatever reason, Mellor’s untimely death does not appear to have been acknowledged in any way. I can only think that the family and staff are still in shock as his passing and are yet to inform the web design company. Let’s hope they rectify it soon and give him a lovely tribute.
In other news…the number of people following me on Twitter has gone from 10 to over 80 in the space of a week. Most extraordinary. I’m really not that interesting yet! There’s a fantastic bunch of designers and homey celebrities including Kirstie Allsop and Mary Portas (Queen of Shops) to name but a few. If you’re not following me yet, please do, and I’ll give you some interiors titbits throughout the week.
Dominic Wilcox has just launched his new blog called Variations on Normal. If you don’t know Dominic’s work already, he’s the guy who created the crazy ‘War Bowl’, amongst other things.

Fabulous tile company, Fired Earth have launched their sale which ends on 12th July. If there was anytime to pick up a bargain, it’s now! What I didn’t know, is that Fired Earth are actually owned by Aga. A match made in heaven eh?

As the ol’ neck and wrists are playing up, I am yet again going to have to keep it brief this post, but I will get better soon I promise. Send good wishes my way and who knows what could happen!

Shiny new lounge creation
08/06/2009 by admin.
In the past few weeks I’ve been spending, shall we say, a little too much time on eBay. It started off quite innocently, selling a few unwanted bits, a broken laptop, a lovely netbook that I wanted to keep if it wasn’t for my college’s daft requirements…the list goes on.
For whatever reason, someone thought that the broken laptop was worth nearly £200! I could have withdrawn the money from Paypal into my normal account but decided to redesign my lounge instead.
The hubby is somewhat suspicious, so I’ve had to treat him like a client and make up a furniture/sample board for him to see what he thinks.

Ok, so I didn’t spend a great deal of time cutting out mountboard and doing a Powerpoint, but I think you get the general idea. And so did he. He was slightly concerned by the fuschia cushion in the corner, but I explained that I only really wanted the aubergine one, honest.
The wonderfully easy to use moodboard creator is found on MyDeco, a fabulous website which brings together the widest possible range of products from high street stores to niche retailers, thousands of inspiring looks to fit your budget, expert designers on hand for advice, and simple 3D tools to help you plan your room before you even open a tin of paint. You can also join their community to share ideas, swap decorating tips and show off your designs. It’s everything you need to buy with confidence. Join up for free now and add me as a friend. Go on you know you want to…

Don’t get me wrong, it’s in perfect condition but I hate pine! The previous owner just left it (and a matching chest of drawers) behind when she moved out. We thought it would be handy at the time, but planned to decorate etc. Anyway, 3 years later, it’s still there staring at me. If you, or anyone you know wants a sideboard, please bid away here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=260423977712#ebayphotohosting
